Van den Berg’s performances during Liverpool’s pre-season have caught the eye of many, leading to increased speculation about his future. Liverpool previously rejected offers from Bundesliga clubs Mainz and Wolfsburg. Mainz, in particular, had hoped to bring him back after a successful loan spell during the 2023-24 season, where Van den Berg played a pivotal role in their defence. Now, according to a £20m deal has been sealed for Van den Berg to leave Anfield, though the club who has struck the agreement have not been named.

Apart from the German clubs, Brentford are believed to be keen on Van den Berg alongside Burnley and Sheffield United. The Bees have been keeping tabs on Van den Berg for some time.
